Platinum & 18K Gold | 3.32 ct Natural Emerald | c. 1910
Some jewels wait a century to be finished.
This elegant Edwardian bow pin was crafted in platinum and 18K white gold in the early 20th century, its diamond-set arms forming a graceful, symmetrical silhouette. At its center, an aperture was left—an intentional pause in the design—now completed with a vivid 3.32 carat natural emerald, chosen to honor the spirit and scale of the original jewel.
The pin is set throughout with 2.76 total carats of Old European–cut diamonds, each hand-set in finely millegrained platinum. These early-cut stones exhibit the soft fire and depth unique to Edwardian workmanship and are graded approximately G–H color, VS2–SI1 clarity.
The emerald center stone, a richly saturated step-cut example measuring 9.82 × 8.37 × 5.16 mm, is accompanied by a GIA report confirming natural origin with no indications of clarity enhancement—a rare and highly prized attribute, particularly at this size. Its restrained bezel setting integrates seamlessly with the original structure, completing the bow with balance and authority.
The reverse reveals refined Edwardian construction, with a substantial pin stem and original-style clasp, underscoring both durability and period authenticity.
An independent insurance appraisal completed prior to the addition of the emerald valued the original diamond and platinum pin at $9,183. The emerald was later selected and set to complete the jewel, transforming it into a fully realized, collector-grade estate piece.
